A SUPER 1st Birthday!

We celebrated our little Finners turning one with a superhero themed party. It was a super good time. Hardy-har-har.

Almost everyone came dressed in their favorite superhero t-shirt, and we even had someone show up dressed as Spiderman! The kids thought that was the BEST thing ever and it was like we had hired someone (Thanks, Nicky!).

Most of the kids and Spiderman. They are wearing masks they decorated.
He did pretty well opening his gifts. This one was more fun to crawl on top of than finish opening up. :)

Not too sure about everyone watching him...

But this cake is good, so I don't care who's watching anymore!

We were finally able to get a picture of all the super cousins, dressed and ready for action! Just pretend I'm not in the background keeping Finn entertained.

Finn - Month by Month

Our little man turned one last week on February 25th. Here is how he has changed month by month during his first year. I did this with Gage, and I soooo wish I had had the foresight to have done this with Addie, too. Love seeing the changes. :)

1 month

2 months

3 months

4 months

5 months

6 months

7 months

8 months

9 months

10 months

11 months

12 months
One year stats and whatnot:
Weight: 20 lbs. 15 oz. (25%)
Height: 28.5 inches (10%)

Started *really* walking today! Loves cheese, bananas, and drinking out of everyone else's cups. Throws his head/body back in protest when he is upset which can make for some interesting almost mishaps... Thinks his sister and brother are the best thing in the world (right behind Mommy and Daddy) and laughs at their silly antics. Takes 2 naps. Basically sleeps all night, if you count waking up at 5 am morning... Is almost completely weaned from Mommy *happysadface*. No words yet, but lots of very pointed screeching/grunting. :)

I can't believe he has been with us for an entire year. Love him so much. Happy Birthday little man.

Gage turns 4!

Rescue Bots!
Sigh. Our first little man is 4. He is so proud and loves to remind us of this fact, especially when there is some "big boy" task that needs completing, "Yes, I can do that because I'm 4!" We had a small family gathering for his birthday this year and celebrated Rescue Bot (Transformer) style.

Putting out a fire!
The kids had to complete Rescue Bot training by "rescuing" action figures hidden in the backyard, racing through an obstacle course, and putting out a fire (drawn on the wall with chalk) with water balloons. I really want to take credit for the idea but I saw it on a blog and tweaked it to meet our needs. Thank you, internet.

He wore this shy little smirk all throughout his gift opening.

Obligatory cute baby pic! They like to party too!
Amelia (9 months) & our Finn (8 months)
Cousin love!

Fun facts:
-He is 50th % for weight, and 25th % for height
-He is, praise Jesus, fully potty trained
-He can be a little moody, 4 going on 14...
-He loves video games right now especially Lego Star Wars on Playstation
-Favorite color: green
-Favorite shows: Rescue Bots, Paw Patrol, Thomas, Team Umizoomi
-Favorite food/snack: Mac n Cheese/cheese crackers
-Favorite movie: Cars
-Favorite toy: Rescue Bots action figures & fire station

Happy Birthday, Gager. Love ya' buddy.

Finn - 6 month update

Finn James - 6 months
I can't believe this little guy has been with us half a year already! I love him and his chubby fat so much! Here's the lowdown:

The stats: 19 lbs 4 oz  in the 75th%, 26.5 inches in the 50th%

Things he is doing now/his favorite things:
  • Sitting
  • Giggling, especially when tired and slaphappy
  • Eating dinner: avocado, mango, carrots, pumpkin, oatmeal, peas    He does not love food as much as we thought he might. He has vomited a few times when gagging on a new flavor/texture...it traumatized me more than him. :(
  • Playing with his feet
  • Checking out his hands in a trance
  • Watching brother and sister play
  • Splashing in the tub
  • Still up 1 or 2 times a night (this phase can be over now as far as we're concerned)
Nicknames: Finners, Finnster, Finnarroo, Finnarewski, basically Finn followed by whatever you like

1 month in...

Well, we are about 1 month in to second grade this year. It has been a bit of a rough start for Addie, but I think we are finally settling in. Poor kid just wasn't ready to let go of summer break, and she really misses her brothers when she's at school. We had one episode of coming home "sick" which was really nerves and missing home. But thanks to a cotton ball loaded up with hugs and kisses and kept secretly in her pocket whenever she needs a little squeeze, it has been fairly smooth sailing since then. :)

I can definitely see her catching bad guys. This was the first time I have asked her this question and received an answer that wasn't "Jedi", "superhero", or something of the like.

2 more years until Kinder for this little guy, but we let him get in on the 1st day action!

Things Kids Say vol. 3

Gage, showing me some toy car parts..."Look, Mom! Comes with everything you see here. Haha! I sound like TV."

Addie gives Gage a cookies and cream Hershey's kiss. He responds, "Yuuuuuum! This is the best one of my life!"

Passing a red tractor while driving. Gage: "Look, it's Tractor Mac!" Me: "Hi Tractor Mac!" Gage: "Um, Mom. I think you forgot he is not real."

Asking Addie what she wants to do on her summer break. "Can we have a movie night with just me, you, and Dad?" *thinks for a minute* "Well, I guess if Finn is awake... I'll allow it."

Gage, saying a bunch "potty" words (peepee, poopoo, etc) at the dinner table. Cam asks him not to  because those are bathroom words, and I tell him potty talk belongs in the bathroom. So Gage thinks for a minute and replies, "Well can I talk about kitchen stuff since we're in the kitchen?"

Gage, grins up at me shyly, "Mom? Can I pwobly just follow you wherever you go?"

Gage strategically placing Cheerios on the floor in front of the couch. "I need to leave 'em der because dat little bug went under the couch and he needs somethin' to munch on when he comes out."

Gage lovingly cradling a doll. Me: "What's your baby's name?" Gage: "Bingo head chancey."

Addie: "Papa always squeezes us!" Gage: "Yeah! He thinks there's lemon juice in us!"

Addie's homework had a finish the sentence, "If I were rich I would..." She finishes it with, "buy a lot of Tic Tacs (spelled tick tacks)." So glad she has lofty goals.

Addie's 7th Birthday

Here I go, back-blogging again. One of these days I'll be better! Our first-born celebrated 7 years on April 26th. We celebrated with all things Frozen! Addie invited some friends from school, and together with our family we had a great time. The weather even knew we were having a Frozen party and decided to be cold (62) and rainy! No problem for the desert kids, they played outside anyway. :)

Our Elsa, complete with magic snow-throwing powers!

We had a piƱata and a pin-the nose-on-Olaf game, a few snacks, and cupcakes!

Love these two!

Addie's circle of friends watching her open gifts. All of the adults had the best time watching this part because the other kids were just as excited as Addie was to see what was in each present. The circle around her kept getting tighter and tighter as the kids were like, "OPEN MINE NEXT!", "NOW THIS ONE!" And the subsequent ooh-ing and aah-ing was priceless.

Amelia and Finn spent some quality time bonding in the pack-n-play during the party.
And of course, a big bike for our big girl.
And pretty sure at the end of all these milestone-y sort of posts I say something like, They can stop growing up now, but I freaking mean it! 7 years?! When did that happen? Love you Addie girl. To the moon and back.
