Me: Do I have a monkey in my ear too?
Gage: Mmmhmmm
Me: What is he doing?
Gage: Ceaning (cleaning) up a tashcan.

What's That Smell?

We had a big milestone this year - our 1st soccer season! It ended in November but I still wanted to get a post in with my favorite pics and memories of the season. We knew Addie would want to try soccer because she could kick a ball before she could even walk. (It is possible- if you held on to her hands she would just stroll along kicking the ball like a little natural.) So when it came time to sign up she was all for it. She was even more excited when she found out that her Daddy was going to be her coach! We were not sure what we were getting into, but we had our own little team of eleven 5&6 year olds. Luckily, Uncle Matt agreed to be the assistant coach and is now referred to as "Coach Matt" by Gage no matter how many times we say "Uncle".

We had practice once a week at a park near our house and a game every Saturday. Our sponsor was Great Western Bank, and let's be honest, that is not a lot of fun to shout out in a huddle. One practice Cam gave the kids some choices of team names that they could vote on. The choices we came up with were sharks and tigers. We just felt like we should have a third choice and so Cam decided to also throw in skunks to make the kids laugh. Except they didn't laugh. They LOVED it, and so every huddle cheer for the rest of the season went like this:

Cam: What's that smell?
Kids: GOOOOO SKUNKS!

Thankfully all the parents saw the humor in it. :)

We had a pizza party and awards ceremony after our last Saturday game. We loved watching how much all the kids progressed throughout the season. I feel like every single player made some great improvements. They are such a great group of kids!

The last game of the season was a Monday night game so the kids got to play under the lights. They thought they were pretty hot stuff.

Today Let us Try and Spread Love

Today we pray and mourn for those lost and left behind from the tragic elementary school shooting that leaves 27 dead in CT. It is so senseless; my heart just hurts and hurts. We can only hug our babies closer and pray, and hopefully teach our children the value of loving others. In our hope to spread a little love today amidst this tragedy for which there are hardly words, we are making some Christmas cards for Dalton Dingus who hopes to break the Guinness Book World Record for the most cards received. He has stage 4 cystic fibrosis and a short prognosis. :( I mentioned this to Addie and showed her his picture on the article I was reading and she said, "Mom, we should make him a TON of cards so he can break the record." And so today we will.

Halloween (belated!)

Finally getting around to posting about our Halloween this year! We did our usual around-the-block trick or treat, which is enough to fill buckets and not get too tired out. This year we had a Jedi and Chewbacca. Would you expect anything less from this Star Wars household?

Pumpkin carving is one of our favorite Halloween things. Addie did her own this year, a bat. :)

Gage helped put seeds in the bowl for Mommy to roast, and then...

He decorated his own pumpkin with little lite-brite looking thingys.

It was a good thing we had this Jedi with us to keep away Halloween spookies!

Gage was our little helper and told us when there were no cars so we could cross the street, and pointing out which houses had "Lights on, Dada!" so we could be sure they were home. :)

Can't wait until next year to see what fun costumes they will come up with. Addie is already making plans...

Look Who's 2!

Last weekend our "baby" turned 2. Sigh. Why do they grow up so stinkin' fast? We celebrated on his actual birthday since it fell on a Sunday this year. We had a Cars party, because this boy is in love with anything that goes "vroom". In fact, bedtime prayers usually go something like this...

Me: Anything you'd like to thank God for tonight, Gage?

G: Mmmmm, God.

Me: What else?

G: Mmmmmm, cars.

If we're lucky, he will usually then say he is thankful for all of us. :-) Here are some fun pics from the birthday!

I am sooo glad someone got this pic! He always makes this face when he's being silly. He closes his eyes, then opens them just a tiny bit and says, "I seeee youuu!" And then we all start cracking up because he's just so darn cute (no bias whatsoever).
